As an act of civic remembering, this exhibit invited the community to look at the New Haven waterfront across four centuries with fresh eyes, to ponder its unrealized futures, and to notice anew the markers of its deep and conflicted history. Presented at the New Haven Free Library, the exhibit anchored itself on three themes: Leisure, Contested Space, and Commerce. Both the exhibit and printed material took the form of a zigzag pattern, creating a threaded narrative and experience around every corner.
